Massachusetts Firearms Law Update

The Boston City unanimously supported legislation to increase the penalty for possessing a firearm in one's home to a mandatory minimum sentence of 18 months in the House of Correction. Currently the penalty for possessing a firearm in one's home carries no such provision. If ultimately passed by the state legislature, this would bring the "at home" statute in line with the "not at home" statute which already has the 18 month mandatory minimum.
